Book Description
This book details the heraldry
of the Stealth Fighter beginning 10 years prior to its history-making
flights over Baghdad during Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm.
It includes actual photos of many rare F-117A patches produced only
for those intimately involved in the F-117A Program. Information dealing
with the development of these patches and explaining their symbology
are provided.
It's also about the people and comaraderie involved. As a bonus, this
book contains history and lineage of patches produced during the Lockheed
Product Excellence Program's existence for the Engineering and Manufacturing
organizations concealed deep within the walls of the highly secretive
Skunk Works; over 160 color photographs.
Readers review: "If you like
the F-117A, Military Patches, or both, then you have to have this
book. Having worked on the F-117A program, this book gives a lot of
information not found elsewhere.
This book is a must for all F-117A enthusiasts. Many of my peers have
already bought this book and the Skunk Works' company store has sold
out. Get it while you can."
About the Author(s)
Note from Patrick
Allen Blazek, the author. : "This book is a tribute
to those who worked on the Stealth Fighter. It was a great honor contacting
the individuals and doing the research to be able to publish this
book.
The idea started when my former manager and I were discussing the
history behind many of the patches depicted within the book. We were
afraid that the history would be lost when many of the individuals,
such as himself, who originally worked on the jet retired.
The Stealth Fighter was conceived, designed, built, flight tested
and placed into an operational Tactical Group (the 4450th)in complete
secrecy. All of this remained in the Black World for about ten years
before it was revealed.
This book is a tribute to those involved who made this all possible.
It has been an honor being associated with the flight testing of this
jet since 1988.
This book will never be a #1 seller at the grocery checkout stand.
If you are a fan of the F-117A, the Skunk Works, or just military
patches in general, then I think you will find the pictures and information
contained within this book fascinating."
