Japan has opened talks with Western defense contractors, including Lockheed Martin and Boeing, to develop a next-generation air superiority fighter. Tokyo is locked in a regional dogfight with Beijing to maintain control over the skies over the Sea of Japan.

F-22 Raptors deploy to the Middle East
An undisclosed number of F-22 Raptors of the Hawaii Air National Guard and the U.S. Air Force have been deployed to the Middle East for as long as six months.

The Hawaii Air National Guard, or HIANG, said the deployment of most of the fighters and more than 200 personnel from Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam in Honolulu took place Sept. 26 but was kept secret for security considerations.

United States Lacks F-22 Fighter Jets
The US Air Force does not have enough F-22 tactical aircrafts, and might become a regional force in the future, US Air Combat Command Commander Gen. Herbert Carlisle said on Friday.

USAFE Chief Calls For An F-22 Base In Europe
In light of Russia’s recent aggressive action in Europe, the commander of US Air Forces Europe is calling for a rotational F-22 Raptor base in the region.

F-22s arrive in Estonia
Two F-22 Raptors and a KC-135 Stratotanker arrived at Ämari Air Base, Estonia, Sept. 5.

Mitsubishi ATD-X Shinshin stealth fighter has rolled out
